Minister Amena Afzali attended 102nd Session of the International Labour Conference

H.E. Amena Afzali, Minister of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan headed the Afghan delegation to the 102nd Session of the International Labour Conference held from 5 to 20 June 2013 in Geneva.
On 12th June 2013, Minister Afzali made a statement and reiterated the commitment of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in regards to the implementation of the ILO Conventions and its recommendations, She also reported the completion of the revision of Labour Law, and highlighted the government program which is aimed to tackle unemployment and create sustainable decent work for its citizens.
At the sideline of the International Labour Conference, Afghan Delegation held bilateral meetings with Delegation of the State of Qatar, State of Kuwait, Islamic Republic of Iran, United Arab Emirates, US Delegation and the Director General of ILO.
The meetings discussed bilateral issues of interests of both sides, such as creating work opportunities, technical cooperation, capacity building of the ministry’s employees by providing training courses and holding discussions on working on and finalizing MOUs in regards to sending skilled Afghan labour to Gulf countries.
